It is located in between Leeds and Huddersfield, which can be reached via car around 20 and 25 minutes respectively, whilst Bradford is around 15 minutes away.

The local area is extremely well stocked, with a local co-op and Sainsburys available for daily essentials, whilst schools options include Birkenshaw and East Bierley Primary as well as the BBG Academy, a highly regarded secondary school. There are also local playgrounds, a popular church and sports facilities including East Bierley Golf and Cricket Clubs.

Things to do

Oakwell Hall Country Park is a fantastic place for the kids and dogs to enjoy a run around or a slice of English civil war history, with the historic Grade 1 listed manor house surrounded by 100 acres of gardens and a gift shop, playground, visitor centre, nature trail and picnic areas.

Transport links

By car, Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield can all be reached in around 20 – 25 minutes and the M62 motorway is conveniently located to reach other major cities in Northern England. The Cleckheaton bus station is situated in the town centre and has a number of bus routes available that serve nearby cities and towns. For domestic and international flights, Leeds Bradford Airport is about a 40 minute drive away and can also be reached by public transport.

Junction 27 is the home of convenience: bars, shops, cinemas and restaurants occupy this popular retail park, whilst the Grand Cru, The Fleece and The George are local pub and restaurant options located in the village. Those after some downtime may want to explore the Gomersal Park Hotel & Spa.
