Robert Watts, the family estate agents in Bradford, has presented Gill Spence from its Rentals team with The Vic Southerington Award 2021.

Launched by Robert Watts last year in memory of its late colleague, the award was presented to Gill by Vic’s wife, Margaret Southerington.

Vic Southerington, who sadly passed away in April 2020 of Covid, started working for Robert Watts in the early 1980s as a Valuer in its first office on Bolton Road.

Director James Watts said: “We’re thrilled to be presenting The Vic Southerington Award for the second year running. Vic was a great friend and to be able to honour him in this way is something quite special.

“This year, the Directors made the final decision which was unanimous as we all agreed Gill is a truly selfless person who always puts others first. She works extremely hard within the Rentals department as Kate Watts’s trusted second in command but is happy to provide support for all sides of the business and is a valued member of the Robert Watts team.”

Traditionally the employee of the year award would have been awarded to someone from the most profitable branch. However, the Watts family did not feel this fit with the ethos of Vic.

Therefore, it was decided that the award would go to an individual who displayed the highest level of tenacity and has gone above and beyond in the pursuit of excellent customer service.

Last year, the award was presented to Nicola Astley who is the Office Manager at Highfield Road.
