October half-term is approaching quickly, and there are so many incredible activities taking place across West Yorkshire for everyone to get involved with. Take a look at our short guide below with some of the highlights. 

 

Bradford 

Lister Park Lantern Parade – 27th October – 18:00 to 21:30 

A magical community event for all the family, the Lister Park Lantern Parade is a fantastic evening filled with performances, music and a spectacular fire finale. Every Monday and Tuesday leading up to the event you can also get involved in workshops to build your own paper lantern at the Cecil Green Arts city centre workshop space on Rawson Place. 

 

Pumpkin Carving Workshop – 27th October – 11:00 to 15:00

Grab your free pumpkin and get involved with the Halloween spirit in one of the carving workshops! Visitors will also be in for a treat, with a live carving of a giant pumpkin. Read the full details of the event here

 

Halloween Ghost Hunt – 28th October – 15:00 to 17:00 

Hosted by the Friends of Harold Park, this Halloween event will be fun for all the family. With a BBQ, DJ, games stalls and a fancy dress competition taking place at 16:00, there is plenty to get involved with! 

 

Kirklees & Huddersfield 

Oakwell Spooky Barn – 31st October to 2nd November 

Suitable for children aged three and above accompanied by an adult, the Spooky Barn and Oakwell Hall offers 45-minute sessions with spooky storytelling, crafts and games. Also included within the ticket is a trail sheet for the country park’s Halloween Trail. Spaces are limited for each session, with tickets available to be booked here.  

 

Pumpkin Picking at Stirley – 28th to 31st October – 10:30 to 15:30 

The popular pumpkin-picking event is back for another year at Stirley. Bring the entire family to take part in the bat trail through the allotment and orchard before finding the perfect pumpkin for Halloween! Timeslots must be chosen in advance and are available to book here

Halloween at the Piazza – 29th October – 11:00 to 15:00 

This half term there will be daily events taking place at the Piazza including pumpkin carving workshops, Halloween costumes and mask making. The main event will be taking place on Saturday 29th October with balloon modelling, sweet treats and a Halloween parade. 

 

Leeds

Halloween at Thackray – 28th October to 5th November – 11:00 to 14:00

Thackray Museum of Medicine invites you to hear the history of surgery this half term and uncover the stories of Leeds Union Workhouse. From a giant game of operations to a haunted graveyard, all of the activities are included in a standard museum ticket. Lotherton Hall Spooky Skeletons Trail – 27th October to 5th November – 09:00 to 17:00

Dress in your best spooky costume and head to Lotherton Hall to follow the skeletons throughout the estate and into the haunted house. This activity is suitable for families with children aged eight and under, and is filled with surprises along the way. Booking is essential for this event, so secure your tickets as soon as possible. 

 

Pirates and Highwaymen at The Royal Armouries – 28th October to 5th November 

The Royal Armouries are being taken over by Pirates and Highwaymen this half-term with adventure stories, live battles and a huge range of activities to take part in. Starting at 10:30 with sea shanties, a day at The Royal Armouries will be packed full of entertainment to keep you and your children busy for hours.
